LoveWay is proud to offer several volunteer opportunities to the community. Below are just a few of the ways in which you can help us support our mission of providing therapeutic equestrian services to individuals with special needs. If you do not find something on the list of which you believe might be a volunteer benefit to our organization, please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator to let us know your ideas! You may reach our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected] or 574-825-5666. Thank you!
Therapeutic Riding Classes:
As a volunteer in our TR classes, you would be helping, along with our horses, in working with a student or rider on riding skills within our arena as well as grooming and tacking responsibilities inside the barn. Volunteers who participate in these classes are normally paired with the same student/rider and horse throughout the semester in order to build a more personal relationship amongst one another which has many benefits for all! Minimum age requirement is 16 years old.
We love having substitutes for all our opportunities! Let us know if you’d like to be a LoveWay sub for our therapeutic riding classes and/or other opportunities available.
Maintenance & Grounds:
Help with maintenance and upkeep of the pastures, grounds, stable and buildings with areas such as string trimming, weeding, manure removal, etc.
Help prepare for or help on the day of a LoveWay special event such as Derby Day or Ride-a-Thon! Perhaps helping obtain door prizes, with food preparation, at the registration table, leading activities, etc.
We enjoy having students from surrounding schools within our community pay us a visit to help with various needs either in the office and/or barn! Minimum age requirement is 14 years old.
Whether you’re a part of a major corporation, smaller family-owned business, church, social welfare organization, educational organization, U.S. war veteran organization, etc., LoveWay has volunteer opportunities for you! As part of a work group, depending on the season, you’d be able to assist in barn activities, outside and trail activities, or assistance that’s needed in our arena! Work group sizes may vary. Parents may bring children (no younger than 8 years old) but must supervise them at all times.
We are proud to offer internship opportunities for high school and college students. These opportunities range greatly in nature and time frame. Accepted interns will be required to register as a volunteer. Minimum age requirement is 16 years old.
We are unable to support Court Ordered Community Service.
Unfortunately, due to the time constraints on our current staffing levels, we are unable to provide adequate supervision required to meet our PATH Accrediting Standards.
