ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – LoveWay had a busy morning with a special group of kids.
The facility works alongside horses and community volunteers to assist and empower those with disabilities.
LoveWay’s new “Nosey Neighbor” mobile unit is bringing mini horses wherever they’re needed. On Thursday, it stopped by A Rosie Place for Children in northwest St. Joseph County.
A Rosie Place is Indiana’s only licensed, not-for-profit specialty hospital dedicated exclusively to serving families with medically fragile children.
“The children of A Rosie Place unfortunately wouldn’t be able to participate in LoveWay programming at our facility due to their diagnosis, and so for us to be able to bring the impact of LoveWay to them and allow them to experience a horse is just really a blessing,” said Shelly Becker, executive director of LoveWay.
Sessions with the mini horses include petting, education about horses, and encouragement of physical movement.
